I guess it is a challanging task to write a book about diwali without mentioning ramayan.
Diwali story book. This book tells the basic story of diwali and its great for toddlers. It is an excellent story book indeed but it should have been titled something like the ramayan. The stories are arranged as per the hindu calendar and thus culminate in the story of diwali.
The rhyming text and colorful illustrations appeal to toddlers preschoolers and kindergartners. Story of diwali introduces the beautiful indian festival of diwali to children. The beautiful illustrations by michael foreman literally bring the stories to life.
I bought it to introduce my child to the festival. The diwali version has rhyming prose and covers pretty much all aspects of diwali the story of ram the story of lakshmi as well as how it is celebrated. The book is a fun non preachy simple to read rhyming story book which talks about how five days of diwali are celebrated.
Seasons of splendour is a collection of the stories and folklore behind every hindu indian festival not just diwali. I was hoping for more of a simplified religious story to describe the actual reason for diwali so thats why ive given it 4 stars.
