Divali Day
Each of the four days in the festival of diwali is marked with a different tradition.
Divali day. Diwali also spelled divali one of the major religious festivals in hinduism lasting for five days from the 13th day of the dark half of the lunar month ashvina to the second day of the light half of karttika. The corresponding dates in the gregorian calendar usually fall in late october and november. In 2020 diwali is on november 14. Dhanteras on the first day of diwali people will perform rituals called puja or pooja and place tea lights around the balconies or entryways of homes.
On the first day people thoroughly clean their homes and shop for gold or kitchen utensils. Though technically religious its also become a cultural event in north america thats celebrated with sweets and special foods. The second day is naraka chaturdashi.
